Litters usually contain 2-4 cubs. Cubs are born helpless and blind, and they open eyes by the tenth day; however, those born in captivity open their eyes right after birth. After 2 months cubs start leaving the den and at the age of 18 months they begin to hunt.

Sumatran Tigers can be encountered in the Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Wild species live 15 years, and captive tigers can live as long as 25 years. Sumatran Tigers mate year round and mothers give birth to their young after the gestation period of 103 days.
